going beyond an element of conversation, discussing the music that makes us pause and leads us into an ongoing discovery of who we are and the transformations that we undergo when we hear it.

when was the last time you heard a song that changed your life? fully absorbed what you heard and listened intentionally?

when was the last time you thought your life was forever changed because of a song you heard? gave you a new perspective or related to what you went through?

questions. asking too many questions.

all that's left to do is sit and listen

that's how you'll find your answers.

Dead in my tracks is the brainchild of Abby Nelwin. Initially starting as a way to archive her music collection in 2023, it has since been an ongoing project. It has expanded beyond simply observation and admiration,  Abby has always gravitated towards sparking conversation about music and culture. In the ever-changing landscape that is influenced by politics, technology, and spaces, our music changes. It also changes us. Whether it be someone who is involved in creative spaces, or someone who simply enjoys music, we can all trace it back to a song that we know.

Abby dreams of owning her own record store and sharing the same love she has for music with others through physical media and collecting. She cherishes keeping music in a tangible form, and hopes that this way it will be passed on for people of the future to enjoy. She aims to push the envelope on listening to music with intention instead of having it play passively. This includes establishing spaces dedication to listening, and having them as a place where the main focus is to put away distractions to really hear.
